Welcome to the GSCB Starter Band home-page!

The GSCB Starter Band is the younger sibling of the Goring and Streatley Concert band for those young in age and/or young at heart who are looking to begin or develop their experience of playing in an ensemble.

The two bands together offer a broad range of repertoire for all musical interests, abilities and ages.  Both bands welcome enquiries from potential new members at any time so do feel free to get in touch using the "contact us" link below or come and hear us at one of our concerts (see here for starter band dates and here for concert band dates).

We are always happy to hear from anyone who is interested in playing in the band, (particularly tuba players!) however some other sections are currently approaching/exceeding capacity so please do get in touch first.  The band is a mix of ages from nine upwards and is increasingly popular with parents, and even grandparents, revisiting their musical past with their children.

Subscriptions are £12 per term for adults and £6 per term for under-18s.

For more information and/or to arrange a time to come and try us out, please contact us using the link below.

Music and concerts

The Starter Band plays a wide range of musical styles at four annual events.  Please see our concert programme pages for more information about what we play.  The Christmas and Spring Concerts are our formal concerts,  playing a variety of seasonal, popular and classical music, we have an end of year informal concert in the summer, and finally, the Starter Band is especially proud of its "Starter Band presents...." series of themed concerts at the Village Hall in the autumn.

Following a successful Halloween Night "Spooktacular" last year we are looking forward to celebrating our 10th Birthday year with a Big Band Birthday Bash Night year on Saturday 2nd November.
